Coufal - foul throw or not?
Coufal's throw-in leading to our equaliser against Spurs was called a foul throw by the Sky match commentator, and by about 10,000 Spurs fans, but not by the referee. The correct technique according to Rule 15 includes the requirement to "throw the ball with both hands from behind and over the head". Maybe Coufal did not start his throw completely behind his head (i.e.not at neck level), but the objection seems to have been that he released it in front of his head. The Rule, which is rather vague, does not specify where the release point must be. It was definitely a throw as opposed to placing or dropping the ball downwards, so I think that the ref got it right. Any thoughts from trained referees amongst you?

You see throws like that quite often and they next to never get called out for a foul. The only common reason given for foul throws is when a foot leaves the ground. Would've been too controversial to give that last night because as you mentioned, there are no hard and fast rules on where to release the ball.

There's shitloads of spurs in Chigwell. What a coincidence a poster called Chigwell has piped up calling a foul throw . If it wasn't bso laughable I'd be annoyed 🤣🤣.

The reason I know the throw was good is that the ref wasn't trying to give us anything last night!

If there was any chance it was bad he would have blown..

Seems to me as long as you start the throw with both hands up behind your head it doesnt matter when you release it. Its just normally released earlier to get distance I suppose.

It's amazing how every West Ham goal is scrutinised to find anything that can chalk a goal off.
Conte will now be hysterical as he deemed the Yids were short changed in the penalty incident.

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
the Spurs fans in the stadium couldn’t make a noise about anything other than their goal last night. Most quiet, bland set of supporters maybe they were mumbling about throws and var.

Cunts the lot of them.

Course it weren’t a foul throw.

Aren't they supposed to put 3 past us every game so these things aren't required to be discussed? Or has this changed since we've shown 3 is not enough?

I thought it was a foul throw myself. But refs very rarely flag it. Delighted anyway fuck them cheating moaning wankers.

I personally hope it is 100% a foul throw, because that makes it even funnier especially against those entitled cunts

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
Reckon there were 3 or 4 foul throws as there seem to be in most matches.
As said it is DELIGHTFUL if this was one too.
Throw was right in front of us and loved it that as soon as the goal went in COUFAL sprinted back to the sideline to HIGH FIVE the ball boy who had got a ball to him quickly.

100% a foul throw, which made it even sweeter. Me and one of my group spend far too much time calling them during games and celebrating when they're given once a season. Tottenham had one in the first half where the bloke's knee was nearly on the floor when he released the ball. Drives me mad.

It's a rule and it's broken constantly because refs are too weak. Why not allow players to be just a bit offside?

The first player to take a foul throw that has resulted in a goal?

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
I did say foul throw when he threw it but we scored so couldn't give a toss.

I think a lot of throw-ins that my sons team get penalised for they get away with the same in the prem.

It wasn't his first foul throw in the game either, but they rarely get pulled up these days, nor should they (for or against!).

Exactly- the amount of throws where players lift a foot off the floor etc. It's just not refereed at all any more. Quite frankly they might as well abolish a load of the throw on rules.
